Welcome Bali into your home

Welcome Bali into your home

The first night of my stay on the island of the Gods, I remember calling my husbie and asking him how I could wrap Bali, put it on a container and bring it home with me. I wanted it all ! The exoticism, lay-back attitude, but above all the incredible craftsmanship ! The Balinese are so handy, they can make everything you would like.

One day, I went to a rattan shop showing a picture of a specific chair I’ve been dreaming of. And the artisan in front of me just answering: “OK. What are the measurements you would like?” At that very moment, something shifted inside of me: everything is possible ! I realised then that in the Western world, we only sell services and goods made by someone else. We don’t really produce anything. Or if we do so, it’s very standardized and/or in huge quantities because of profit. The standardisation and quantities kill creativity and customisation.

A few weeks later, my partner in crime arrived on Bali. We decided to bring a little bit of this paradise home with us: all we could store in one container. So we started to make a list of all the items we wanted to source. Then we went on a shopping trip. We sketched, created and negotiated. It’s an enriching exchange to work with local artisans as you discover the other’s culture, believes and way of seeing life. We sourced a whole collection of rattan furniture, paradisiac lamps, huge cement planters, wooden art work, tribal art curiosities, etc. Part of this will be to furnish our lovely home, but we will be sharing beautiful objects with you too.

Let’s make everyday feels like holiday thanks to these Balinese craftsmanships !
