Wooden carved ethnic mask from the island of Timor in Indonesia. These masks are unique handmade pieces. They are not to be worn but made to make contact with the spirits of ancestors. They adorn the walls in traditional houses.

From the notion that the gods are present in all things, the ancient Indonesians created beautiful 'homes' for the spirit and transcendental energies to dwell in. The mask is, therefore, a medium for ancestral spirits to reside or visit the physical world as it represents the divine beings or energies in a physical form.
